Building Science Fair Community Engagement in a 3D online environment Proposal by Project Ember
A Minecraft Event that all Science Fair Participants can Join
Hosted & moderated by Project Ember
Project Ember's design challenges are highly engaging, creative, and sometimes silly, prompts for students to respond to by building in collaborative teams supported by Project Ember staff.
Based on our Popular Afterschool Program
Project Ember provides Minecraft design challenges and narrative adventures to students throughout the bay area four days every week. This program encourages students to positively support each other's ideas, push their creative solution-finding, and collaboratively construct large and astounding creations.
Estimates
The design challenge activity will provide student science-fair participants the opportunity to attend an event together on the day of the science fair that is fun and engaging while celebrating all of the accomplishments of the participants.
Students will be offered areas for free building as well as engaging in a larger-scale group collective building challenge, all with a grand science fair theme.
The event is based on Project Ember’s popular fall 2020 Minecraft afterschool program. Project Ember’s Minecraft team has developed a program for students that focuses on creativity and collaboration in executing challenging Minecraft builds.
